With over 20 years of dedicated yoga experience, she has evolved from seeking physical wellness to embracing yoga as a profound, spiritual journey. Pearl's approach to yoga is rooted in the rich traditions of Dharma Yoga and Gokul Yoga, reflecting her deep commitment to the authentic essence of yoga practice.

Trained in the dynamic and fluid style of Dharma Yoga, Pearl was influenced by the teachings of Sri Dharma Mittra, a respected practitioner and teacher known for his emphasis on compassion and selfless practice. This approach resonates in Pearl's classes, where she focuses on grounding, holistic practices that include heart and hip openers, breathwork, and deep relaxation, all aimed at purifying consciousness and cultivating kindness and humility.

Pearl's expertise also extends to Gokul Yoga, under the guidance of Mahayogi Gokulacandra Das. Here, she delves into Buddhi Yoga, a practice that focuses on the higher workings of the mind and transcends the false ego. This practice is based on the foundational principles of the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali, emphasizing the internal aspects of yoga, including bandhas and the subtler elements of physical practice.

Pearl's mission in teaching yoga goes beyond imparting physical techniques; it's about guiding students towards a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. She believes in yoga as a way of life, an ongoing practice of awareness and humility in both grand and mundane moments of existence.

A word from Pearl:

Hello. My name is Pearl. Nice to meet you! Thank you for being interested in getting to know me and my practice. I have been practising yoga for more than 20 years. What started out as a “stretch-and-destress" thing, has evolved into a more internal, and inadvertent spiritual practice. After all, in the words of Jay-Z, “Everybody look at you strange, say you changed, Like you worked so hard to stay the same”. Change is permanent.

Anyways, I am trained in the traditions of Dharma Yoga and Gokul Yoga. And I teach how I have been taught.

And then people ask: “Other than yoga, what do you do?” Really, yoga is how you do what you do all the time... if you’re aware... about being aware... In fact, how much you show up for practice, is how much your practice will show up for you. And becoming and being aware involves equal parts self-discipline and divine blessing. Says quite clearly so in the Yoga Sutras.

So, when I’m not teaching yoga, I’m either reading (I read all sorts: fiction, classics, philosophy, scripture), or doing mundane but meaningful things like laundry, vacuuming and washing the toilets... it’s good to be aware of what living the way you live takes. Being truly aware is really humbling. And in the spectrum of Humility, Compassion finds its window.
